Yummy Tummy - Chocolate Protein Bars

Everyone loves protein bars, they taste good, they give you instant energy and they are a very easy on the go snack. But you don't need to break the bank every time you want to have some.

They are very easy to make at home, and are very customisable according to your taste and if you make them yourself, you know all the ingredients are legit(no fake sugar business)

I want to share my favorite recipe which is super easy, delicious and filling.

Ingredient list
  • 1 cup cereal flakes. This can be easily substituted by oats. Choose the plain non flavored kind to avoid added sugar. I personally really like this whole grain cereal so I picked this, but just use your judgement here.
  • Half cup muesli- Any kind would work here
  • 1 Tablespoon Chia seeds( Super rich in Omega 3 fatty acids)
  • 2 Tablespoons Cacao/ Cocoa powder. Try to find one that is natural and free from added unhealthy stuff. Natural Cacao is actually quite healthy and contains lots of antioxidants. So,dark chocolate(70% or higher cocoa content) can be healthy in small amounts. Win!
  • Honey to taste( 2-3 tablespoons is good for me).
  • Pinch of cinnamon. Cinnamon is delicious and is great for boosting your metabolism.
  • 1 Scoop protein powder of your choice. I like this particular brand, it is affordable and contains 19g protein per serve. Pretty impressive!
  • Almond milk/ water to mold the bars as required. (I use the unsweetened kind)

Method

  • Start by mixing all the dry ingredients in a bowl, then add honey

  • Now add very little almond milk, and then add some more by constantly checking the consistency of the batter. Add the milk only enough to form bar like molds.

  • Now shape the batter into bars, I do this using a big knife. You can also make them into balls if that's easier for you.

  • Voila! The end result.

  • And of course, the best part, eat away!

Hope you like this recipe! Do let me know if you try it out.

Luck and Love,
Niki
